DIY Style: Replacing An Invisible Zipper

Here's a project that's been on my to-do list for a couple of months; you may remember back to October when I tried to wear this Karen Millen dress to the ballet.  I sat down at my computer and the zipper ripped open!  It's not a very exciting, creative or easy project, but I'm glad I can finally cross this off my to-do list.

Step 1
Cut out existing zipper from fabric and lining.

Step 2
Prepare new zipper according to zipper package instructions.  I aligned the new zipper with the old and hand-stitched a tack bar and ironed it open.
Step 3
Pin new zipper onto fabric, following zipper package instructions, and stitch via machine with invisible zipper presser foot.
Step 4
I hand-stitched the lining back in place, starting with the seams I cut open at the top of the zipper.
Step 5
I hand-stitched the hook and eye back into place.

That's this gist....there's a few small hand-stitching steps I left out, but if anyone decides to try this, feel free to contact me with questions.
