I had a tiny dinner party with my friend Jenn, who came over to talk banking and finance with David. I decided to use my nice china and crystal since it rarely gets taken out of the cabinets. I'm not that into Kate Spade for fashion, but I really love her dinnerware! I made coconut chicken, salad with homemade honey mustard vinaigrette, and strawberry shortcake.

Interesting story about those tarnished salt and pepper shakers (though I'm not supposed to give any names). A friend's sister used to work as as a personal assistant to a popular NYC boutique owner. He owned a house in Atlanta, as well as NYC, and decided to sell and move - the sister was able to keep a few things (various silver and crystal items). These shakers (plus a crystal bowl) made it to me because neither my friend nor her sister liked them, haha. Admittedly, they are a little gaudy, but I like them anyway. I'd love to know more history about them, as they're definitely antique. Based on the stamped hallmarks, my googling powers have just now determined they are sterling silver from silversmiths Suckling Limited, Birmingham, England, year 1925.  Cool, wow, there's such a plethora of information of hallmarked silver on the internet - I never knew! And look what else I found - you can get your very own replica pair for £15 British pounds on eBay! :-P

Aren't small dinner parties the best? Bet the conversation was hearty.

Good story with the salt and pepper shaker. One girl's trash is another girl's treasure.
