Gold Lace

Blouse: Made be me
Camisole: Express
Knit Pants: Ann Taylor {similar here}
Heels: Christian Louboutin "Decoltissimo," thrifted {similar here} {and here for $75}
Purse: Asos {similar here} {and here}
Earrings: thanks to Anjolee {here}
Bracelets: Target {similar here} and vintage {similar here}
Watch: Michael Kors {here} {similar here}
Sunglasses: Tom Ford "Anouk" {similar here}

I made this top when I lived in Boston (2005) from gold lace I found in a small fabric store near Downtown Crossing. I cut the pattern very specifically so the scalloped edge of the lace would lie at the hem of the tunic and sleeves (though in these pictures, the nude silk cami hangs lower than the tunic). Every time I wear this shirt, it reminds me of living there. Readers, what clothing items or accessories bring back memories for you?

So cool that you made the top yourself, Mary Ann! Oh, if only I knew how to sew, I'd make so many clothes :)

I really wish I had the talent to make clothes like this - amazing! It's so feminine. It's crazy how things will remind you of certain places or events. I have a red dress with matching pashmina that I wore to an amazing (read: fancy) event when I lived in Pittsburgh and will always think of bundling up on that cold snowy night when I put it on. I also have a bracelet that reminds me of my move to Atlanta since my hubby gave it to me right before I decided to move.

You are so talented, and that top is absolutely gorgeous! I don't have items that I still wear that bring back memories, but do keep boxes of clothes that I just can't bring myself to donate because of the strong memory associations I have with them.

Gorgeous top! I've seen a lot of short-sleeve lace tees, but this is very elegant in a tunic length and with longer sleeves.
I think most of my memories are attached to jewelry ... when I've got something important to do, like a job interview, I always wear jewelry given to me by close friends/family - it makes me feel more confident. :)
